Former controller charged with embezzlement
A 37-year-old controller who served prison time for grand theft stole $225,841
from the Foster City flooring company where she worked and used some of the
money for a down payment on a home, according to prosecutors who charged her
with embezzlement.

Four managers at the now-defunct Able Laboratories Inc. pleaded guilty Thursday
to roles in a scheme to falsify data at the generic drug maker, a seven-year plot
that ultimately led to the company's collapse.

FBI ISSUES MORTGAGE FRAUD NOTICE IN CONJUNCTION WITH MORTGAGE

Today the FBI and the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) entered into an
agreement to combat Mortgage Fraud. The FBI and the MBA will make available a
Mortgage Fraud Warning Notice as a proactive means of educating consumers and
mortgage-lending professionals of the penalties and consequences of this criminal
activity.

FBI to warn borrowers, lenders on mortgage fraud
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, seeking to stem a rising tide of crime in home
financing, said on Thursday it will warn borrowers and lenders that mortgage
fraud can result in stiff fines and prison time.

Former Security Aviation chief Avery pleads guilty to fraud
Mark Avery, the former owner of Security Aviation and other Anchorage-based
businesses, pleaded guilty to charges Tuesday that could keep him imprisoned
