‘Sweet 16’ visit sinks oilman in hot water
Investors saw oilman Gary Milby on television giving his daughter a private
helicopter ride, a new BMW and a shopping spree for the MTV "Sweet 16" show.  
What Milby never told investors, is that regulatory agencies in five states have
ordered him and his companies to stop advertising and selling the securities. Also,
Texas barred him from owning oil wells for seven years after safety violations

Judge says no to leniency request
"The sentence will remain as stated," U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore said
despite earnest pleas from one of Kevin Hannon's lawyers for the same leniency
other judges have granted six ex-Enron executives — who are admitted felons —

The SEC said Snyder's misrepresentations caused the restaurant chain to fail to
report material amounts of his compensation in regulatory filings from 2002

The celebrity real estate magnate's name had surfaced earlier in the trial in
testimony indicating that Black gave him a proxy so he could appear at a
shareholders meeting to help quell anger among rebellious shareholders of

Democratic congressman indicted in bribery probe
The idictment stated the Democratic Rep. William Jefferson instructed bribes to be
funneled through companies controlled by staffers and relatives. "I'm in the
shadows behind the curtain somewhere," the indictment quoted him as saying.
